Dr. Carrell comes from an athletic background playing hockey and baseball. He grew up in eastern Michigan, just north of Detroit. You can actually see Canada from his parent’s house! As an athlete, he became extremely passionate about the physical preparation it takes to perform at the highest level. He has also been amazed at what the human body is capable of doing, which led him to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Exercise Science from Grand Valley State University in Michigan.
Dr. Carrell entered the medical profession assisting with cardiac stress testing, prior to moving to the Sunshine State, where his first stop was the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. While at IMG, Dr. Carrell trained high-level high school and college athletes. He helped maximize their performance and reduce the risk of injury through diligent training and injury prevention techniques. While at IMG, Dr. Carrell truly found his passion and decided that physical therapy was the ideal way to blend his passion for the human body with a strong desire to help people reach their full potential.
In 2015, Dr. Carrell moved to St. Augustine, FL to pursue his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. During his time at St. Augustine, Dr. Carrell served as an intern at Johns Hopkins and returned to the IMG Academy working with youth and teenage athletes. Dr. Carrell gained very valuable experience working with youth athletes who participated in baseball, football, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, and other sports.
After graduating with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy, Dr. Carrell moved to New Mexico to practice at an outpatient orthopedic practice in Roswell. While in the southeast US, he learned dry needling techniques as well as manual therapy treatments from a certified manual physical therapist. In 2020, Dr. Carrell returned to central Florida to practice and joined B Physical Therapy that same year.
Dr. Carrell continues to stay active with weight training and high-intensity interval training (HIIT). He now resides in Central Florida with his fiance, Becca, who is also a physical therapist! They have an amazing dog named, Remy. Dr. Carrell is a sports enthusiast and cheers on his Michigan-based teams including the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and Michigan Wolverines. Dr. Carrell enjoys staying active and spending time with his family whenever he is able to make it back up to Michigan. He truly enjoys helping people reach their goals and even exceed their expectations for what they believe they are capable of doing.
